Tadelakt Plastering Services Bristol

About Us

Tadelakt is one of the oldest and most treasured plaster finishes in the world. The beauty of Tadelakt results from the natural lime-based plaster which creates subtle nuances of colour and depth.

Working in collaboration with our clients, leading designers and architects, we create inspirational tadelakt finishes for wet rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and other living areas. We guide our clients through the choices in colour, shape and finish to create eye-catching designs that complement their homes. We can realise the latest designs, perfectly blending style and substance to create beautiful individual spaces.

Our highly experienced tadelakt craftsmen use the traditional techniques that have been passed down by generations of Moroccan tadelakt masters. Each design and application of tadelakt is unique, its luxurious look and feel are in demand with Bristol’s dynamic and creative designers, architects and home builders.

Whether you are renovating an apartment in Clifton, buying a new home in Stoke Bishop or planning improvements to your existing property in Redland, we will work with your concept design, provide detailed instructions on how to construct a room for tadelakt, and deliver a beautifully handcrafted, bespoke space.

We have a portfolio of projects throughout Bristol and the South West ranging from residential extensions in Bishopston, new builds in Leigh Woods and conversions in Southville to restaurants in Whiteladies Road, commercial buildings in the Temple Quarter, and Somerset hotels and spas.

Tadelakt Q & A

What is the Cost of Applying Tadelakt Plaster?

Our plaster finishes are priced per square meter, but the exact cost of tadelakt application depends on a variety of factors. Please email or phone us to discuss your particular requirements. We will need you to provide measurements of all walls to be plastered, and sketches and measurements of any design features such as shelves, architectural niches, vanity units or similar. We will get back to you with a quote as soon as we can.

Is Tadelakt OK to use in a Bathroom?

Yes, tadelakt is ideal for use in a bathroom. We expertly apply Tadelakt to hundreds of bathrooms and shower rooms per year. Tadelakt is waterproof due to both the inherent properties of the plaster and the water repellant waxed finish. Because tadelakt doesn’t require grouting, it offers a seamless finish to a bathroom.

Will Tadelakt Crack?

To avoid structural cracks, tadelakt must be applied only to substrates that will not warp, bend or breakdown when coming into contact with moisture. Please contact us in advance of starting construction, we will provide a substrate guide which details our requirements. Tadelakt plaster itself is flexible and we use a fibreglass mesh in our undercoat plaster to ensure our tadelakt product does not micro craze or crack.

How Do You Keep Tadelakt Clean?

Generally, the wax finish prevents scale and grime adhering to the Tadelakt. There are two methods for maintaining the surface of Tadelakt in order to prevent the build up of hard water marks. These marks would allow dirt and grime to adhere to the wall. The first option is to use a squeegee to remove water droplets from the wet walls after showering. The second option is to apply further coats of protective finishing wax on a monthly basis or as required. If spot cleaning is required, a damp cloth or baby wipes work remarkably well. For general bathroom cleaning we recommend a pH neutral cleaning product specifically designed for cleaning marble, limestone, and other natural stone. After installation, we will give you a tub of wax, as well as thorough maintenance instructions. Always avoid harsh cleaning chemicals such as bleach.

Is Tadelakt Plaster Breatheable?

Tadelakt plaster is vapour-permeable, allowing the wall to self-regulate any moisture within it.

Is Tadelakt OK to Use in a Shower or Wet Room?

Yes. Due to its inherently waterproof qualities and water resistant finish, it is the perfect material for showers, wet rooms and even swimming pools. It looks great when used to create architectural features in a room, such as shower cubicles and sinks, and can also be used to create washstands, shelves and seats – all totally waterproof.
